Thank you for the encouragement, Tita, bye.

MOMMY CARMI:

                         Bye, iha.**

RAMIL:

I know it was Paulene you were talking  to, Mommy.

MOMMY CARMI:

Oo.

Yes.  At least, Ramil, I know you wouldn’t be able to refuse.  As per the Chinese, I have arranged for you to marry Paulene.

RAMIL:

No way.  I don’t understand you, Mom.   Ambot unsay gipakaon anang pamilyaha nimo.

Nganong  idudho man gyud kanako si Paulene?

No way.  I don’t understand you, Mom.  I wonder what that family made you eat.  Why would they push Paulene to me?

MOMMY CARMI:

                       mo ikapasigarbo.

I just want to be sure, Ramil.  At least, just for you to end up with a lady with a breeding.

To a lady who has the same status in society as us.   A lady that you can be proud of.

RAMIL:

Gitahod taka, Mommy.

I mean it.

I respect you, Mommy.  Please, give my feelings a little respect.  If you ever will force        Paulene to me, I will leave and will never show myself to you ever.  I am not kidding about what I said, Mommy.  I mean it.

LOLA PINANG:

All right, then.  Okay, my grandchild.  Sing now.  Sing all your favorite songs.  Because it wont be long that, we won’t be able to hear your voice.

And why not grandma?  Where will I be when I would just be studying in the city.  I still

would come home here to our place.

LEO:

                   Dance Day, dance.

LEA:

Ay, dili ko kabalo mosayaw kuya ba.

Oh, I don’t know how to dance, Kuya.

LEO:

                   Ana ba?

                     Like this?

LEA:

                   “Dayang dayang”.  Dili ko.

.     “Dayang dayang”.  I will not.

PAPA SANTI:

                      Bisaya.  Bisaya.

                        Visayan.  Visayan.

LOLA PINANG:

                      Ako na la’y mo sayaw.

LOLA PINANG:

                          O, mahimo sad.

Yes.  That will be good too.

PAPA SANTI:

Sige, sige.  Unsa mang sayaw; unsa mang kantaha?

Okay.  Okay.  What dance; what song?

LOLA PINANG:

Sige.  Sugdi na.  Ang iyang kantahon atong lingawan.

Okay.  Start it.  We will dance to what she will sing.

PAPA SANTI:

Ah sige.

Ah, okay.  I’ll still agree, as long as it is because of Inday, of Inday Lea.

LOLA PINANG:

                            Na, sige.

                                Then, okay.

PAPA SANTI:

                            Pasahe.

                                Start intro.

LOLA PINANG:

                            Tungod ug alang kanimo.

                                Because and for you.

LEO:

                             Sige. Sayaw na ‘mo.

                                Okay.  You dance now.

PAPA SANTI:

                             Wala ma’y kanta.

                                But there’s no music.

LEO:

                              Wala’y kanta.  Pastilan sad ani..

                                No music.  My goodness.

LEA:

                              Wa’y klaro.

                                So vague.

MINGGOY:

                              Dong, Dong Ramil!

                                 Dong, Dong Ramil!

RAMIL:

                              O, Minggoy?

Yes,  Minggoy?

MINGGOY:

“Dong.  Sorry kay na-public disturbance tika, ay, public disturbance, na-disturbo tika ha?

Ganina  man gud ko nakakita nimo nga -- kaganina pa tika nakita nga nag sige’g

hinuktok.

‘Dong, I’m sorry that I have a public disturbance on you – oh -- public disturbance -- I

disturbed you, okay?   I’ve seen you earlier that -- I have seen you earlier

that you have been contemplating.  What happened, Dong?

RAMIL:

                             Si Mommy man gud.

                                It’s because of Mommy.

MINGGOY:

Si Mommy nimo? Ngano man? Sisiw!

mo mag-away. Mao na’y tambal ana.

Your mommy?  But why?  A piece of cake! Just go along with you Mommy, Dong, so that

You won’t fight.  That’s the solution to that.

RAMIL:

Unsa’y buot nimong ipasabot?

What do you mean?  I will agree that she feeds me to Paulene?

MINGGOY:

This is just between us, ‘Dong, okay?   Paulene, is head over heels with you, Dong.  Then,

She is targeting your mother.   Paulene, Dong, is sucking up at Ma’am Carmi.  You know,

Dong, she gifted your mother with expensive jewelry just so she can get your mother’s

attention, so that she can go near you.  She is head over heels for you.

RAMIL:

                             Unsa diay?  Is that so?

MINGGOY:

motibo. Pero Dong, nganong dili man sad tawon ka ana ni Day Paulene, ka-mamords

ana?  Materyalis pwertes kana.

That ‘s what happened.  Paulene is very extravagant in giving gifts to Ma’am Carmi because she has a motive.  But Dong, why on earth don’t you like ‘Day Paulene?  She is very attractive?  She’s very sexy.

RAMIL:

I have no feelings for her Minggoy.  And she is not the type of girl that I would love.

MINGGOY:

                             Haah!

                                Haah!

LOLA PINANG:

Sige.  Lain na sad nga kanta, apo.

Okay.  A different song this time, child.

LEA:

Wa ka pul-i’g paminaw sa akong tingog, Lola?

You don’t get tired listening to my voice, Grandma?

LOLA PINANG:

Ooy! Ngano gung pul-an gud. Di gyud noon ko pul-an. Kanindot sa imong tingog.

Ooy!  Why would I get tired?  I will surely never get tired.  Your voice is very nice.

PAPA SANTI:

                             Tinood na.

                             That’s true.

LOLA PINANG:

Di ba? Hala sige. Kanang binisaya na sad.

Right?  Okay.  Go.  A Visayan this time.

LEA:

O sigi. Unya kuan-i ko -- apili ko -- kanta sab ug apil.

Yes, okay.  Then,  what’s this – join me.  Join in singing too.

LEO:

                               Bisaya.

                                   Visayan.

PAPA SANTI:

                               Ikaw Leo, pul-an ka niya?

How about you Leo, do you get tired of her?

LOLA PINANG:     O.

                                  Yes.

LEO:

Wala oy,kanindot kaayo ‘g  tingog sa akong kaluha.

Of course, not.  My twin has a very nice voice.

PAPA SANTI:

Kung ako pangutan-on,di gyud ko pul-an.

If I will be asked, I will never get tired.

LEO:

                                Unsang kantaha, Lola?

                                   What song, Grandma?

LEA:

                                Sayaw ka Pa ha?

                                   You’ll dance, Pa, okay?

LOLA PINANG:

                                Unsa man?

                                   What?

PAPA SANTI:

                                Hala, akong usa ra?

                                   Oh, just by myself?

LEA:

                               “Pobreng Alindahaw”

                                    Pobring Alindahaw.

LOLA PINANG:

                                  O, kana. Sige.

                                     Yes.   That one.  Okay.

PAPA SANTI:

Kantahi unya kanang duyugi kanta unya dayon manayaw ta.

Sing then later, accompany the singing then let’s dance.

LOLA PINANG:

                                   O, mahimo, mahimo man.

                                      Yes.  We may, we may.

LEA:

                                    “Ako’y pobreng alindahaw.

                                        I’m a poor dragonfly.

PAPA SANTI:

                                    Wooh..alindahaw.

                                       Wooh…dragonfly.

LEA:

                              Drifting with the breeze

PAPA SANTI/LOLA PINANG:

                                 Gianod-anod.

                               Adrifting.

LEA:

                                 Nangita ug kapanibaan, ahay,

Looking for a place it can sip from.

PAPA SANTI:

                                  Kapanibaan.

                                Can sip from.

LEA:
