Tambagi ko Noy Tikyo: Magminyo o di?

Advise me Noy Tikyo:  To get married or not?

Monday, March 4, 2013

Dear Noy Tikyo,

Maayong adlaw.

Good day.  Because of hard times, I did my best to provide assistance to my siblings.

I have two siblings who I send to high school and one in college.

This is the reason why even at the age of 37, I have not gotten married yet.

Just recently, I met a foreigner.  He is an American.

Wala siyay asawa.

He went on vacation here in the Philippines for two months.  He has no wife.

Dali ra ming nagkasuod ug nagkarelasyon.

We became close easily and had a relationship.

He wanted to extend his stay here in the country because he wants to marry me.

Then he will take me to America.  I saw that his love for me is sincere.

But I am confused if I should marry him because I have siblings here that I am helping.  Aside from that I have a job that I cannot leave because I also love it.   That’s why I have difficulty deciding.  What will I do?

Hanny

Hanny,

What you’re doing to help your siblings is good because no one will do it but you who has a job.  Your consideration for them to obtain a bright future by letting them finish their studies is good.

Apan mas nindot sab kon maggahin ka og panahon sa kaugalingon aron nga planohon kon unsay buot mong mahitabo sa imong kinabuhi.

But it would be nice if you will allot time for yourself in order to plan what you want to happen in your life.

How about sa imong kinabuhi?

What you should do is ask yourself: Is helping your siblings your end all and be all? To allot your time and work for them?  How about for your own life?

To decide for marriage doesn’t mean that you are turning your back from helping them.  You can still help them even if you are married already.

Aside from that, when they will have finished their studies, they will become independent when they have their own family.

That’s why you also must think of yourself and not only to give time for them.

Apan before that sutaa una ang tinuod nga pagkatawo ning imong uyab karon nga langyaw.

But before that, verify the real character of your boyfriend now who is a foreigner.  It’s still too early for you to agree to get married with him.  You also still have a chance because you are only 37 years old.  Don’t hurry so that you will not regret in the end.  But don’t be afraid to decide for your own life.

Noy Tikyo
