The Cebuano/Visayan term for vegetable is utan. You should be careful when you pronounce this because if you mispronounce it, it may sound like a term for male genital in Cebuano/Visayan. Majority of Filipinos are vegetable-lovers.Their food recipes mostly include one or two vegetables and oftentimes, the type of food that is staple in one region reflects the kind of produce the area or region has. Here are some local vegetables which you may come across in your travels around the Philippines.
My students find some of other local vegetables unique and curious just like the banana blossom or sometimes what we jokingly call the "banana heart." I suggest you look it up if you are interested.
